Poe Coté Lagon

Facing the clear water of Poé lagoon, the two bungalows here sit close enough to the shore that the beach is only a short walk across the garden. Each is air-conditioned and self-contained, with a private terrace, a kitchenette and its own bathroom, built for guests who want to cook after a day on the water rather than dine out. The garden is tropical and shaded, planted with trees that give the pool area its own shelter from the sun. Three kayaks, two doubles and a single, sit ready for exploring the lagoon's shallow, transparent flats. It is a quiet property. Evenings favour reading over nightlife, by house design. The land backs directly onto the Domaine de Déva, 11,000 hectares of trail open to walkers and mountain bikers, with marked routes running from the coast inland. Scuba diving and hiking can be arranged locally, and a wooden gate off a sand track marks the turn onto the property from the single paved road through Poé. A car is needed to reach it; there is no public transport link. Wi-Fi runs throughout, useful given the distance from town. Bookings run a minimum of two nights, and breakfast and a set dinner are available on request, alongside a cot for younger guests. The result is a small, self-catering base built around the lagoon rather than around itself.
