Poiana Tămaș Wilderness Camp

Poiana Tămaș sits in a remote Carpathian meadow, with three mountain ranges — Piatra Craiului, Făgăraș, and Iezer-Păpușa — visible from the camp. You sleep in a restored shepherd's hut or a glamping-style tent; both are properly furnished and equipped with eco-friendly infrastructure: compost toilets and rustic showers in place of conventional plumbing.

A chef cooks on site, working with locally sourced ingredients. Meals come out under a covered outdoor shelter — a practical arrangement in mountain weather. After dark, an open fireplace serves as the common gathering point.

The meadow connects directly to hiking trails and the national parks that border the area. Red deer and chamois are present in the surrounding land. Guided excursions are available for those who want local knowledge on where to walk and what to look for. The open meadow setting gives you wide sightlines to the ridgelines before you set out.

The camp is built for low-impact use. Compost toilets, rustic showers, and a locally sourced kitchen are the working result of that intention — infrastructure kept deliberately light for a site this far from a town.
