Cubs in Ol Kinyei Conservancy

Ol Kinyei Conservancy was the first community conservancy of it’s kind set up in 2005 and every tent pays to secure 700 acres with the vehicles being limited to no more than 1 vehicle to 1400 acres. The guests staying at the Porini Camps have exclusive access to this conservancy. There is a resident lion pride of over 20 animals and several leopards also have their territories within the Ol Kinyei conservancy and are often sighted by guests from Porini Mara Camp on evening or early morning drives. Cheetahs are frequently seen and it is not rare to come across large numbers of giraffe as well as Cape buffalo and elephants. This is a great location from which to observe the Great Wildebeest Migration (generally July to October), and there is another Wildebeest Migration from Kenya’s Loita Plains to the Mara which moves into Ol Kinyei Conservancy earlier, usually by January. The calving takes place there during February and March when the plains of the conservancy are teeming with wildebeest and a lot of “predator action”.

Porini Mara Camp is located in Ol Kinyei Conservancy – an 18700 acre IUCN listed wilderness set aside as a wildlife sanctuary. This setting provides the ultimate African safari holiday adventure in an unspoilt area, away from the crowds. (Approximately 1 hour flight from Nairobi.)

The Eco Tourism Kenya Gold Rated Porini Mara Camp is located in a unique and beautiful setting under yellow-barked Acacia trees along the banks of the Laetoli. The Mara camp contains just five spacious guest tents and one family unit. Porini Mara Camp has an exclusive yet friendly feel, with each tent containing comfortable furnishings and ensuite facilities (with hot shower and flush toilet). The camp Chef uses fresh ingredients to prepare high quality meals and even home-baked bread. Porini Mara Camp is fully-inclusive of meals, drinks (vodka, gin & tonics, wine, beer, sodas and mineral water) and all activities (including day and night game drives, sundowners and escorted walks). There is also the opportunity to book a Hot Air Balloon Safari. Game drives (shared) are in 4×4 safari vehicles with expert safari guides.
