Rebuilt within a historic Baixa Pombalina building, Hotel Portugal keeps the district's post-earthquake grid at its doorstep, on a pedestrian-only street beside Praça da Figueira and Rossio. Interior designer Cristina Santos Silva worked traditional Portuguese azulejo tiles, in blue and white, through the 53 rooms and suites, alongside gold-toned details that nod to the Pombaline period. Rooms are compact. Classic rooms run 20 to 23 m², Deluxe rooms 26 to 28 m², while Premium rooms and Family rooms stretch to 45 m² with room for an extra bed. The Suite adds a separate living area and a round bathtub fitted with chromotherapy lighting. Ground-floor life centres on the Jony Rules Bar and its courtyard, plus a small wine cellar, the Premium WineHouse, for tastings paired with cheese and charcuterie. Sister property Hotel Mundial sits twenty metres away, reachable on foot, with its eighth-floor Varanda de Lisboa restaurant and a rooftop bar looking out over the city's rooftops and the Tagus beyond. Rossio metro and train station lie under 200 m off, and tram 28, Lisbon's cross-town route through Chiado and Alfama, stops less than 50 m from the entrance. Castelo de São Jorge sits one hillside away. A private car park is available nearby for guests who arrive by road.
