White walls and terracotta roofline mark the inn as colonial in shape, modern in comfort. Posada El Capullo sits in the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, close to the town's landmark square and its riverside chapel, with the waterfront two blocks off and the port a short walk beyond. Standard rooms sit on the ground floor around the breakfast area, built to the proportions of the old colonial houses but fitted with air conditioning, cable TV and a minibar. Standard Garden rooms face the pool instead, set between lawn and water. The Superior Familiar sleeps four across a double and two singles, and the Loft, meant for longer stays, comes with its own kitchen and a ceiling fan. It is a compact stay. A living room with a fireplace and wet bar, hung with modern art, gives guests somewhere to sit out a cold evening, and there are computers on hand for anyone without a laptop. Outside, gardens run around an outdoor pool, and a barbecue stands ready for guests to use on their own schedule. Bicycles can be hired at the inn, and a gym covers the basics. Check-in guests arrive on foot as often as by car, since most of Colonia's old streets are cobbled and close together.
