Primate Lodge Kibale
Primate Lodge sits inside Kibale National Park in western Uganda — the only lodge within the park boundary. The chimpanzee tracking trailhead is adjacent to the property, which means you reach the forest on foot rather than by transfer. The park holds one of Africa's densest populations of chimpanzees, and the lodge also arranges chimpanzee habituation, a longer, full-day programme that follows a habituating group from dawn.
The lodge has nine ensuite forest cottages and one honeymoon cottage, all set among the trees and oriented to face the forest. Twin and double rooms have high ceilings, grass-thatched roofs, mosquito nets, hot water, and a private veranda. The honeymoon cottage stands further into the forest than the others, with a seven-by-seven-foot king-size bed, a private lounge, indoor and outdoor fire pits, and an extended veranda. All rooms have cotton linen, a safe, and a sitting area.
The main building holds a bar — wines, cocktails, and soft drinks — and a restaurant serving both Ugandan and international food. A spa offers massage therapies and hand and foot treatments. Guided bird walks, natural history tours, and cultural visits to communities near the park are available off-site. Internet access is complimentary throughout the property. An airport shuttle can be arranged on request.
