Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy

El Zonte's black sand runs right up to the property line, and the swell that breaks off the point is visible from the rooms above it. Puro Surf sits on that break, in the La Libertad department of El Salvador's Pacific coast, about 45 minutes from the international airport. It combines a boutique hotel, a surf academy and a beachfront restaurant, Covana Kitchen, under one roof, which the property says makes it the only resort of its kind in the country. The academy was founded by Marcelo Castellanos, an ISA-certified coach who has worked with athletes at the Panamerican Games, the WSL Championship Tour and the Olympics. His programme, called the Surf Sequence, structures coaching around video analysis, land drills and recovery work such as ice baths and massage, alongside daily sessions in the water. Rooms range from single and double layouts to a two-room Tree House apartment that sleeps up to five, most with balconies facing the ocean or the tropical garden behind it. A shared dormitory sits within the academy building itself. Beyond the board, there is a pool set above the water, a yoga studio that runs beachfront classes, and a kitchen built around local ingredients. Fishing skiffs still launch off the same stretch each morning. It is a working surf point with a hotel built into it, not around it.
