Rarotonga Beach Bungalows

Set on Titikaveka Beach, on Rarotonga's south side, Rarotonga Beach Bungalows faces a lagoon protected as a Rāhui, where fishing is banned in the waters directly offshore. The result is a reef thick with fish, and eagle rays and green turtles are regular visitors just off the sand. It is a small property: five bungalows, family-run since 2002, split between Beach Bungalows set steps from the water and Tropical Bungalows tucked into garden shade further back. Each has bamboo-lined walls, Pareu cloth ceilings, and a kitchenette opening onto a covered deck facing the lagoon. Interiors lean into a retro Polynesian style, with island objects and a design nodding to the 1930s and '40s South Seas rather than anything modern. The bathrooms include a garden shower open to the plants outside. Bedrooms are air-conditioned. A shared lounge, the Totara, holds a library and the property's landline for local calls. Kayaks and snorkelling gear are provided, and the reef is close enough to reach on foot. Titikaveka village sits about twenty minutes from Rarotonga's airport by road, and roughly 18 km from Avarua, the capital. Guests arrange their own transfers. It is a quiet, couples-oriented base, built for slow mornings on the deck and long afternoons in the water rather than resort-scale amenities.
