The building at the centre of Aschau im Chiemgau is late medieval, once known as the Hotel Post. Heinz Winkler converted it into a hotel in 1989, and the kitchen has stayed the point of the place ever since. It is a compact stay: 32 rooms and suites, some with balconies, terraces, or direct garden access. Restaurant Epicures serves Michelin-starred cooking in a sun-filled room, while Brasserie Tafern runs a lighter, informal menu from early evening, and the Poststube handles private events and celebrations. The mountain terrace looks directly onto the Kampenwand, and weather permitting, dinner moves outdoors there too. You can take breakfast on that same terrace, or coffee and cake in the afternoon. Indoors, a winter garden and hotel bar face the terrace and serve as the main gathering points before or after dinner; a Davidoff cigar lounge sits alongside them. The Laconium wellness area holds a sauna, a tepidarium, and an indoor pool, run alongside the Beauty Vital Resort for treatments. Aschau itself sits among the Chiemgau mountains and lakes, a short reach from the Prien river. Check-in runs from 3pm.
