Set on a stretch of golden sand within the old city of Tyre, Rest House Tyr Hotel & Resort puts the sea a few steps from its lobby. The South Governorate coast here is calm and shallow, and the beach itself is soft underfoot, a point the hotel makes much of. Sixty-two rooms and suites fill the property, each with flat-screen TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a minibar and a safe. Some open onto private balconies where breakfast can be served. Hiram Restaurant runs from morning to midnight, mixing Oriental and Continental dishes, with a Sunday lunch buffet drawing a local crowd. A beach snack bar keeps to simpler food, mainly saj off the grill. In the evenings, Oasis Restaurant Lounge opens by the pool, serving salads, appetizers and grilled dishes from 8pm, with a livelier, later mood than the main dining room. The hotel also runs city tours on request, taking guests through the old town, across the Roman Hippodrome and out on a boat past the Sea City's seven rocks. Meeting rooms range from a small boardroom to a hall holding up to 250, so weddings and conferences share the same grounds as sunbathers. It is a compact, functional resort rather than a design statement, built around its beach and its position inside a city that predates most of its guests' countries.INSUFFICIENT_DATA
