Riad 48 & Spa
Opened in October 2024 behind a plain door in the Kasbah quarter of Marrakech's medina, Riad 48 & Spa occupies a former riad house five minutes' walk from the Saadian Tombs and quarter of an hour from Jemaa el-Fnaa. The building keeps the bones of the traditional courtyard house while updating the finish: zellige tile and tadelakt plaster line the bathrooms, and each of the ten rooms carries king-size beds and walk-in showers. Room sizes range from 18 to 40 square metres, and no two are alike. Room four is the largest, a bright suite at 40 square metres; room six, at 18 square metres, is the most compact and takes its character from touches of blue in the decor. A rooftop terrace looks toward the Atlas Mountains and catches the sunset. The kitchen runs a changing weekly menu of Moroccan dishes — tajine, pastilla, harira — alongside a Sunday brunch that mixes Moroccan and international dishes. The spa keeps to hammam ritual and massage, with treatments such as the Beldi black-soap hammam and a foot reflexology session. It sits four kilometres from Marrakech airport, in a quiet residential stretch of the medina. Check-out is at noon.
