Riad Mur Akush

Riad Mur Akush is a medina house whose walls date back some 300 years, restored to hold six rooms and suites behind a plain door on Derb Zaouia. The renovation kept sections of the original stonework and balanced traditional craft with modern comfort: tadelakt plaster in the bathrooms, zellige and bejmat tilework underfoot, and furniture built by hand in Marrakech or found in the antique markets nearby. A wall fountain anchors the courtyard, the house's main gathering space. Rooms differ from one another, each with its own bathroom, safe, and air conditioning; the Grand Suite Amel is the only one with a television, and some rooms keep a fireplace for winter. Two terraces sit above the medina roofline. One looks toward the Atlas Mountains. You can take breakfast there under the winter sun, or dinner by candlelight once the souks below have gone quiet. The address sits in Bab Doukkala, an old quarter of the medina, a short walk from Jemaa el Fna and near restaurants such as Dar Moha and Dar Marjana. Car access and parking lie within 30 metres, useful given the narrow lanes leading in. The riad can be booked as six individual rooms or taken whole, for up to seventeen guests across the house.
