Ritsa Resort Hotel

Ureki's beach, known for its dark magnetic sand, is about fifty metres from the front door. Ritsa Resort is a seven-storey block on the Georgian coast, its glass and pale render standing against a backdrop of dense pine forest. A separate three-storey building holds the pool and restaurant, stacked so that both look out over the trees toward the sea. The rooftop terrace carries a bar; from here you can watch the forest run down to the shoreline. Rooms range from standard doubles on the ground floor to a top suite with its own living room and several private balconies, each opening onto a different angle of sea or forest. Furnishings lean plain and current: soft neutral tones, flat-screen TVs, a fridge and bathroom with a bidet in every room. It is a compact, modern build, not a sprawling one. Downstairs, the restaurant serves Georgian and European dishes alongside Georgian wine and homemade lemonade. A children's play area, a mini-tennis court, and a private car park sit around the building, and the hotel arranges transfers and day trips into the surrounding region. A lift serves all seven floors, including the lower ground level. The pool, raised above the treeline, gives the clearest view of where the pines meet the water.
