The Major’s Room

Set apart from the main house at River Birches, this room sits within its own garden plot, away from the comings and goings of the property. Inside, guests find an en-suite bathroom with both a bath and shower, underfloor heating, air conditioning and a lounge area for downtime between outings. There's a private balcony or deck, tea and coffee facilities, satellite television and dressing gowns for comfort. The name nods to the Major Jones pool, one of the storied stretches of the nearby Tongariro River where anglers have cast lines for generations.
