Kampot Province holds RiverTree Villa & Resort in the Makbrang village area, a short drive outside town toward the port city's colonial-era streets. The resort spreads eighteen villas and twenty-five rooms through a garden thick with palms and ferns, with the river running along one edge. Rooms open onto private balconies facing either the water, the garden, or one of two pools. Suite villas carry their own plunge pool and a walk-in shower alongside a soaking tub; the two-bedroom version runs to 265 m², large enough for a family or two couples travelling together. Standard rooms measure 56 m², each fitted with Khmer floor tile and handicraft furnishings, and a sofa that unfolds into a bed. Guests reach the river directly on foot, and kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and bicycles are free to take out. A rooftop restaurant called Glow serves Khmer and international dishes and catches the sunset over the hills; a pool bar and riverside dining tables round out the options. There is a spa with saunas and hot tubs, and a shuttle runs guests into Kampot town, about 15 minutes away by tuk tuk. Cambodian pepper farms, limestone caves, and the old French quarter lie within reach for day trips. Peacocks wander the grounds. Check-in includes a welcome drink and cold towel, a small ritual after the drive in from Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville.
