Rooisand Desert Ranch

Rooisand Desert Ranch, in Namibia's Central Region on the fringe of the Namib Desert, is surrounded by the magnificent scenery of red sand dunes - shaped hundreds or thousands of years ago by winds from the Kalahari Desert - vast grassy plains and rugged mountains.

The farm has a size of some 12.000 ha, a huge area - by European standards. Rooisand Desert Ranch affords its guests a relaxing sojourn with every convenience. Guest accommodation, the main building with the kitchen and farm management quarters, the technical buildings, the pool, fitness centre and the tennis courts are all located in the central farm area.

Due to its proximity to the Gamsberg - one of the darkest and least light-polluted areas of the southern hemisphere - Rooisand has specialized itself as a renowned Astro farm, catering for all stargazing and astronomy enthusiasts -from the first-time stargazer to amateur astronomers and experienced astrophotographers. With its own observatory, housing one of the most state-of-the-art telescope / astrograph combination available for public viewing in the country and in collaboration with Deep Sky Safaris, Rooisand is a must-visit to enjoy the true magnificence of the African night skies.
