The rooftop here is a pool ringed by plants, heated year-round, with daybeds and umbrellas set against the rise of Sylhet below. Rose View Hotel occupies a central position in the city, within reach of the Surma River and the shopping and business districts, and close enough to Osmani International Airport and the road to Dhaka to work as a base for either. It holds 140 rooms and suites, from Super Deluxe doubles up to a Family and a Presidential Suite, each with a personal bar, a bath and shower, and a safe. Four restaurants cover different registers: Paktoon serves Moghul-style Bangladeshi and Indian dishes, Pearl of Orient runs a continental buffet at night, and Four Seasons keeps to tea, scones and pastries. Club Royale is the only fully licensed bar in Sylhet, stocked with champagnes, spirits and wine. On the top floor, past the pool, sits the Siam Thai Spa, the first of its kind in the city, with treatment rooms, a steam room and a fitness studio. For events, the hotel runs several halls, led by the Crystal Ball Room at 4,000 sq ft, seating up to 600 in theatre style. It is built for volume and comfort in equal measure, not for quiet corners.
