Rosewood Matakauri

Rosewood Matakauri sits on the shore of Lake Wakatipu, seven minutes from Queenstown, with the Remarkables and Cecil Peak directly across the water. The main lodge holds twelve rooms and suites — eight in outlying cottages and four within the lodge itself. Each suite has a private porch, an open fireplace, walk-in wardrobe, and a bathroom with lake and mountain views. The four-bedroom villa adds a fully equipped kitchen, a sheltered courtyard with a barbecue, and a Jacuzzi, and takes up to eight guests.

The dining room serves breakfast and dinner from an à la carte menu built on local seasonal produce: high-country lamb, lake-caught seafood, and ingredients from the property's own kitchen garden. The lodge also sources organic berries, quince, hazelnuts, and mulberries from Double Rock Farm in Kawarau Gorge. Private dining is available in the library or the main dining room, and the terrace faces the lake for alfresco meals.

Facilities include an infinity pool, a full-service spa, and a fitness centre. The surrounding area provides heli-skiing, lake activities, and access to Queenstown's trails and operators. Private transfers to and from the lodge can be arranged through the concierge.
