Perfect for Big 5, Birding, Fishing, History & Culture, Nature, Relaxation, Star Gazing, Wildlife

Royal Chundu occupies a stretch of the Zambezi River at Katambora, roughly an hour upstream from Livingstone, with rapids on both sides of the property. The camp runs as two separate lodges that share activities but sleep independently of each other.

River Lodge sits on the mainland bank facing the Matetsi Private Game Reserve across the water. Its ten suites are all river-front, each with a king-size bed, double shower, air conditioning, fan, and mosquito nets. Island Lodge sits on Katambora private island — a quieter, more contained property with four villas set among Baobabs and Jackalberry trees that are estimated at two thousand years old. Each island villa has a deck, an open-air bath, and a glass-walled double shower.

On the water and along the bank, the lodge runs canoeing, kayaking, catch-and-release fishing, and guided walks. A spa, pool, bar, and restaurant serve both lodges. Off the property, the Zambezi corridor between Katambora and Livingstone supports elephant, rhino tracking, Big Five game drives, helicopter scenic flights, and river cruises — all bookable through the activity desk.

The lodge has a children's club and speaks English, German, and Spanish. A complimentary airport shuttle connects to the nearest airstrip.
