Sable Jeri

Arriving on foot rather than by car, guests reach Villa Mango Jeri down a quiet lane five minutes from the centre of Jericoacoara, the beach, and the dune known for its sunset. The hotel sits among native trees and a tropical garden, its ten suites built with local wood, burnt cement floors, and furniture made by regional craftspeople. Rooms range from 15 to 45 square metres, each with a private terrace and hammock; two upper rooms come with their own rooftop pool. A two-storey house sleeping four adds a lounge, open kitchen, and private garden for guests wanting more room. There are no televisions and no in-room minibars, only a shared self-service bar on an honesty system. Breakfast is included and made in house, with breads, cheese bread, and juices from local fruit. Mornings sometimes open with a yoga class before the meal; evenings run toward the pool, wine, and the dune terrace at sunset. Jericoacoara's national park surrounds the property with more than 88 square kilometres of dunes, lagoons, and beach, and staff arrange buggy, quad, or 4x4 visits to both sides of the park. Wind sports draw guests from July to January, when the coast becomes one of the world's steadier kite and windsurf runs. The hotel takes adults only. It lends thermos flasks to cut down on plastic and runs on solar-heated water.
