Safari Valley Eco Resort

Set across a 600-acre valley in Ghana's Okere District, Safari Valley Resort sits about 65km from Accra in the Eastern Region. Lawns cover more than 250 acres of the grounds, threaded by a natural waterfall, ponds, and a man-made canal running over 400 metres. It is a working piece of land as much as a resort: solar panels, bio-digesters and 26 boreholes with filtration systems supply power and water, cutting reliance on diesel generators. Cabins are spread through the landscape rather than clustered. Camper Cabins, at 25 square metres, suit couples wanting a simple base with an outdoor shower and a queen bed. Woodland Cabins run to 93 square metres and add a private lap pool and a wooden bathtub, set in half-acre grounds. Family Cabins are larger residences of up to 450 square metres with between three and six bedrooms, each with its own pool. Zebras, alpacas, rheas and meerkats roam the reserves, and guests can feed or photograph them at close range. A 580-metre canopy walk runs tree to tree above the forest floor. There is a 9-hole golf course, a cigar lounge and wine cellar, and horseback riding through the valley. The Ceiba Restaurant serves three- to five-course meals, most ingredients drawn from the resort's own farms.
