Savasi Island Resort

Savasi Island is a private 52-acre outcrop off the coast of Vanua Levu, reached by boat from Savusavu. The island rises from volcanic rock, and its twelve villas are set along cliffs, coves and a stretch of sandy beach, each looking straight out over the Koro Sea. Three Clifftop Villas perch on a volcanic bluff behind a 180-degree sweep of open water, while the Blue Lagoon villas sit just steps from the sand, cooled by a steady sea breeze. Waterfall Villa has its own lily pond and a banyan tree growing through the property, and Coral Villa sits over an infinity pool built at the water's edge. Every villa keeps its own private pool. Guests can walk the house reef at low tide, kayak the mangrove canals, or paddleboard the marina without leaving the island. Further afield, boats run to Split Rock for snorkelling with gorgonian fans and soft coral, and seasonally to Rabi Island, where manta rays gather from April to November. On land, a cocoa farm nearby runs chocolate tastings, and a kava ceremony introduces the drink's place in Fijian custom. It is a compact resort, and a quiet one: children under five are not accommodated, and the island favours couples and small groups over crowds. Check-in runs from 2pm.
