Scandi Divers Resort

The water off Big Lalaguna Beach is clear enough to see the reef from the sand. It is white and soft underfoot, and the beach curves along Mindoro's northern coast in Puerto Galera, a region counted among the Philippines' four biosphere reserves. Scandi Divers Resort holds a stretch of that shore, with over forty rooms, many of them oceanfront and looking straight out over the bay. Rooms come with air-conditioning, cable TV and hot-water bathrooms; some open almost directly onto the sand. A pool sits behind the beach, along with a restaurant, a bar and a sun terrace that catches the afternoon light. The resort's dive centre works out of a base on-site, running boats to some forty sites nearby, including wrecks, drift dives and reef walls thick with coral and fish. Instructors teach across six languages, from Tagalog to Mandarin. Night dives run regularly, and blackwater trips head offshore after dark, where floodlights draw up creatures rarely seen by day. You can kayak from the beach, walk to Tukuran Falls, or take a boat to the nearby Mangyan village. Sabang's town centre is a ten-minute walk along the coast, close enough for an evening out, far enough that the beach stays quiet. Wi-Fi runs throughout, backed up by Starlink.
