SeaScape On Heavenly Bay

Heavenly Bay opens out beneath SeaScape, a wooden building set directly above the beach in the fishing village of Castara, Tobago. Two apartments make up the whole stay, Sunset and WaveSong, both self-catering and both facing the Caribbean without a wall in between. Sunset spans two floors, one bedroom to a level, with a 16-foot-wide view of sea and sand from the living area and a private upper balcony measuring 1 by 9 metres. It sleeps four. WaveSong is smaller, one bedroom for two guests, its western wall opening a full 19 feet to the bay. Each bedroom has bi-folding doors that, opened, put the queen bed in view of the water. Every kitchen carries a six-burner stove and full fridge-freezer, built for a proper meal rather than a snack. Birds move through the open rooms on the sea breeze, and the surf sounds constant from below. There is no television or air conditioning here, and no telephone; wifi runs throughout, and staff will help with car hire, groceries, and excursions. The site once held the Cliff Hanger guesthouse, once named among the world's top hideaways by a British aviation magazine's readers. Castara's own bakery, working from a clay oven on Wednesdays and Saturdays, sits a short walk across the footbridge.
