Selina Playa Venao
Paddling out at dawn, surfers here reach a beach break that runs for most of the year, one of the reasons Playa Venao draws riders of every level to this stretch of the Azuero Peninsula's Pacific coast. Selina splits its stay across two bases. Playa Venao East sits on the sand itself, palm-lined, with a beachfront restaurant, an activity deck, and a pool; weekends often bring live music or a bonfire on the beach. Playa Venao West sits inland along a river, in rainforest, a short walk from the main road, with its own pool, a vegan cafe, a cinema room, and the town's largest coworking space. Rooms at both range from private doubles and family rooms to dorms and teepees, each with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and hot water. Shokogi, the on-site surf school, runs lessons and multi-day camps, rents boards, and organises trips to Isla Iguana for snorkelling among reef fish and turtles. Deep-sea fishing runs most mornings, and whale watching runs in season. It is not a quiet retreat. Music and shared kitchens keep the two properties sociable, and the ocean sets the daily rhythm — surf, swim, or work from a hammock, then follow the coast into a Pacific sunset.
