Sentinel Mara Camp
Nine tents above the Mara River in a forest within the reserve
Set within a forest on high banks above the Mara River in the Masai Mara National Reserve, Sentinel Mara Camp is nine tents spaced along the water. Eight face the river; one faces the forest. Each tent has an en-suite shower, flush toilet, mahogany furniture, cotton linen, mosquito nets, and a veranda. Charging stations are standard. Dressing gowns are provided.
The dining tent and lounge overlook the river. Hippo and crocodile are visible in the water below. Three chefs prepare meals daily; vegetarian options are available. A library, bar, and fireplace anchor the communal areas. Wireless internet is complimentary in the main tent; tents do not have connectivity. Laundry service is complimentary.
Game drives depart twice daily with Maasai guides. The Musiara Marsh area — where the BBC's Big Cat Diaries and Disney's African Cats were filmed — is on the doorstep. Guided walks near the camp are led by staff; longer walks can be arranged with an armed ranger. Hot-air balloon safaris and visits to Maasai villages can be organised. Sundowners, bush breakfasts, and starlit dinners are scheduled on request. You can hear hippo from the tent. The camp charges batteries and offers secure parking. Staff speak English, Swahili, Italian, and Afrikaans.
