Shannas Cove Resort

Facing Shanna Bay across a wide stretch of white sand, Shannas Cove Resort keeps to five bungalows, each with its own balcony and sea view. The water runs from pale turquoise near shore to a deeper blue further out, and small reefs sit close enough to reach by kayak or paddle board. Rooms are simple: king bed, open shower, ceiling fan, a fridge stocked for the week. Turtle and Parrot are the waterfront bungalows, set closest to the tide line, while Dolphin is the largest at 40 square metres. It is a small, adults-only stay. Days run loose: paddle out to a reef, walk the beach toward Orange Creek, or do nothing at all on the porch. Bonefishing grounds lie a short walk away, and deep-sea fishing trips go out on a 22-foot boat. Evenings gather round the bar before a set three-course dinner built from local fish and produce, with the hosts pouring the wine themselves. You can hear the birds before you see them, and lizards work the balcony rail most mornings. Getting here means flying into New Bight or Arthur's Town and driving in, since Cat Island has no direct commercial route beyond Nassau or Fort Lauderdale. The resort arranges taxis and rental cars on request. It is a quiet corner of a quiet island, built around a single bay.
