Shoestrings Backpackers sits on West Drive in Victoria Falls town, about a walk from the falls and the activities desk that can arrange nearly everything in the area — game drives, river cruises, scenic flights, white-water kayaking, horse riding, and more. It is a working backpackers, plain and practical, and the bar is the social centre of the place.

Accommodation runs across five types to suit different budgets and group sizes. Dorms come in six-bed and ten-bed configurations with bunk beds, reading lights, and shared ablutions. Private Teak and Masasa rooms have either twin or double beds, a fan, a desk, and an ensuite shower. A family unit sleeps four in a mix of a double bed and a bunk, with its own ensuite. Dome tents hold two single beds each, with bedside storage and a fan, using shared ablutions. All rooms have mosquito nets and electrical outlets.

The bar is open daily and has become a meeting point for travellers and locals alike; traditional musicians and dancers perform regularly. The Shoestrings Cafe serves a varied menu across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including pizza, with takeaway and free delivery available within Victoria Falls town. The property has a pool, secure parking, a children's play area, paid internet access, and a twenty-four-hour security presence. An airport shuttle is available on request.
