Canine Unit Experience
Meet the Serengeti's anti-poaching dogs at work
Skip to product information
A visit to the SGF Canine Unit, where handlers explain how their dogs help guard the Serengeti against poaching. Guests watch a staged demonstration in which a dog sniffs out a hidden piece of wildlife contraband, and, if a tracking session happens to be underway, may follow along as the dog traces a person's path through the bush. These are scheduled training runs rather than live operations, arranged for safety and legal reasons. Groups run from two to six guests, and a set donation per person supports the unit's running costs.
