Community Tour
A house-to-house walk through Gasura village life
Skip to product information
A visit to Gasura, a village in the Kinigi sector about thirty minutes from the lodge. The tour moves from house to house over roughly two hours, introducing crafters who weave baskets and carve gorilla-trekking sticks, and demonstrating how staples are processed by hand — cassava roots are stomped, sorghum is ground into flour. Guests also call on local families at home, seeing daily domestic life rather than a staged display. Timing is flexible, with nine in the morning or two in the afternoon suggested as starting points. It is a walking, conversational encounter with the community bordering Volcanoes National Park.
