Sky Lodging

Glazed into the side of each log cottage, a glass igloo frames the sky directly above the bed. Sky Lodging keeps to two cottages only, each built in Finnish log-cabin style with a connected glass dome, and each sleeps up to four guests across two bedrooms. One bedroom sits inside the glass structure itself, so two guests fall asleep watching stars, or the Northern Lights when they appear overhead. The property sits on the Ounasjoki River, 25 minutes north of Rovaniemi, with its own stretch of riverbank and a panoramic sauna shared between the two cottages. It is a quiet setting. Floor heating, wifi, and potable tap water are standard, though there is no reception and no staff on site, so the stay runs on self-sufficiency rather than service. Winter brings husky sledding, reindeer sleigh rides, ice fishing, and snowshoeing through the surrounding forest; summer shifts to berry picking, canoeing, horse riding, and photography tours timed to the Midnight Sun. A traditional Finnish dinner, cooked over an open kota fire, can be arranged nearby. Rovaniemi itself, along with the Arctic Circle and its attractions, sits a short drive south. The cottage floor plan runs to about 45 m², compact by design, with the glass igloo as its defining room.
