Sofitel Grand Sopot

Facing the Baltic along its own stretch of beach, Sofitel Grand Sopot has stood on this shoreline for close to a century. The art deco bones show clearest in Le Bar, where piano and harp recitals run through the weekend beneath period detailing. It is a building with history in the walls. Rooms split between park side and sea side, the latter with balconies that catch the water directly; the top-floor Magnifique Attic Room and the General Charles de Gaulle suite, with its own terrace, sit at the upper end of a run that also includes junior suites and a prestige suite facing the sea front. Interiors lean on soft colour and antique furniture rather than anything flashy. At Grand Blue, chef Tomasz Iwańca builds menus around Baltic fish and seasonal produce, from smoked matias with pickled cucumber to octopus with broad beans; you can eat on the terrace in summer with the coast in view. Breakfast runs as a full buffet of local cheese, cured meats and pastry, alongside an à la carte list of sourdough toast and poached eggs. The spa, run with Dr Irena Eris, adds a hammam, sauna and pool for after the beach or the boardroom. Gardens and coastal paths sit just outside the door for a walk before dinner. Fifty-five parking spaces serve the hotel, all outdoors.
