Solas Surf Sri Lanka
Beachfront villa on Kabalana Beach, Ahangama, with surf and yoga packages year-round
Kabalana Beach in Ahangama forms the front garden of Solas Surf, a beachfront villa on Sri Lanka's southern coast. Kabalana Rock lies just offshore, one of the country's known A-frame reef breaks, with a gentler beach break closer to shore for those still finding their feet. The villa itself was designed, built, and opened by its founders in December 2018, after years spent scouting the coast for the right stretch of sand. It is a compact, enclosed property. Rooms come in king or twin configurations, each with air conditioning, a safe, and an en-suite bathroom, opening onto a deck or into garden. A private pool sits within the grounds, alongside an open-air yoga shala where sessions run at sunrise and sunset to the sound of the waves. Meals draw on seasonal, local produce, much of it grown in the property's own garden or sourced from nearby farmers. Surf lessons and yoga classes are taught by resident instructors, with equipment provided and low instructor ratios kept for beginners and advanced surfers alike. Solar panels supply the electricity and hot water, and kitchen waste is composted on site. Guests can walk to Galle Fort, Koggala Lake, and Weligama, all within reach of the coastal road running past the villa.
