Ästad Vingård

Ästad Vingård is a working vineyard set inside the Åkulla beech forests in Halland, one of Sweden's largest wine estates and the base for its own organic harvest. Grapes grown on site go mostly into sparkling wine, with still wine made in years of a bigger crop. The estate runs to 48 hotel rooms plus a scatter of timber cottages, each within walking distance of the vines, the spa and the restaurants. Sinnenas Spa draws its cues directly from the land around it: scent compositions built from the nearby nature reserves, birdsong and lake sounds piped into the bathing rooms, and both hot and cold pools set outdoors year-round. A wood-fired sauna looks straight into an underwater window, where rainbow trout drift past in the spring-fed pond. Restaurant ÄNG works with local hunters, fishers and growers and holds a Michelin star; Restaurant Logen keeps to a simpler, seasonal farmhouse menu that changes with the year. Guests can walk a vineyard trail with a sommelier, tracing the process from vine to bottle through the press house and its oak barrels and steel tanks. The estate also runs conference rooms and a sister hotel on the coast at Varberg. Check-in and check-out follow standard hotel hours.
