StarDome Lodge

Glass domes replace ceilings here, so the sky becomes the fifth wall of every suite. StarDome Peru sits on Mt Antanuca above Ollantaytambo, reachable only by a private road that the lodge's own drivers cover, free of charge, at check-in and check-out. The five suites are named for Andean spirits: Condor, Snake, Sun & Moon, Hummingbird, Apu. Each aligns, deliberately, to a different sacred peak visible from its window. The Apu Suite is the only one with a fireplace and a jacuzzi and sits on the dome's upper floor, its own quiet corner of the property. The Condor Suite carries the widest reach, its private jacuzzi looking straight at Mount Verónica. Rooms run 25 to 34 square metres, each with a private garden or balcony and heated floors against the mountain cold. Breakfast draws on herbs and produce grown in the lodge's own gardens. Beyond the rooms, the lodge runs San Pedro and Despacho ceremonies with a local shaman, framed as ways to connect with the Apus, the protective mountain spirits of Quechua belief. Guided treks reach the Sun Gate and Mount Verónica, and day trips run to Machu Picchu, Moray, and the Maras salt pans. Profits support the surrounding Quechua community, staff, and guest programmes. Founded by Carlos Gibaja and the late Bob Berman, the lodge grew from a personal search for meaning into a working base for that same kind of connection, open to anyone willing to sit with it.
