Devised as a dinner where the plate becomes a screen, Le Petit Chef brings its projection-based show to the Steigenberger Parkhotel on Königsallee, Düsseldorf's central boulevard. A tiny animated chef appears on the tabletop between courses, narrating each dish before it lands. It runs on a fixed sequence, tied to the timing of the food. The format has spread to cities from Amsterdam to Bangkok, and the Düsseldorf room follows the same staging: low light, close tables, a screen built into the surface in front of each seat rather than on a wall. Expect a set menu rather than a card of choices, built around the beats of the story on screen. You watch the character race across mountains and oceans before the next course is served, and the timing of each scene is matched to the kitchen's pace. The restaurant sits inside a working hotel, so arrival is through the Steigenberger's own lobby on Königsallee, in the middle of Düsseldorf's shopping district. Seating is close and communal by design, built for the tabletop projection to work at every place. It is not a long meal. The show runs to a set length, and turns are timed to keep the room moving through an evening of covers.
