Sugar Beach

Arriving by road along the Coastal Road at Flic-en-Flac, guests step straight into a resort built along a run of white sand on Mauritius's west coast. It is a five-star property with 238 rooms, spread between the Manor House and a cluster of Creole-style villa houses. Ground-floor suites open directly onto the beach: the Executive Beachfront Suite has a king bed, separate lounge, walk-in wardrobe and its own terrace facing the sea. Upper-floor rooms trade direct sand access for balconies with views over the water or the gardens. Two pools sit on site, one kept as a quiet zone, alongside a spa with a hammam and treatment rooms for singles or couples. Three restaurants cover the day, from a beachside spot known for seafood and sushi to a buffet room with live cooking stations. You can walk from your terrace onto the sand before breakfast. Water sport is free and unbooked: kayaks, paddleboards, windsurfing and a glass-bottom boat run on a first-come basis, while diving and deep-sea fishing carry a charge. Golfers get unlimited green fees at two courses inland, Tamarina and Ile aux Cerfs, with boat transfers laid on to the latter. Check-in runs through reception in the Manor House.
