The Great Migration
Witness the Mara River crossing from an open vehicle
Skip to product information
Between roughly June and October, wildebeest and zebra herds move through the Northern Serengeti, and TAASA's position gives guests access to the Tanzania/Kenya border area to watch the Mara River crossing. Herds gather on the banks, hesitate, then one animal jumps in and hundreds follow. Guests reach the crossing points by open-sided game viewer, with off-road tracking through the private sanctuary bordering the park. Vehicles are exclusive to lodge guests, and groups stay small, so a guide can focus on one party's interests rather than managing a crowd. It is a seasonal event, not a guaranteed sighting.
