Thirty-three rooms at Thimphu's edge, on the Wangchhu River, near the capital
Arriving at Thimphu from the Babesa expressway, travellers reach Terma Linca first, set on a bend of the Wangchhu River just before the capital proper begins. The resort holds thirty-three rooms and suites, built in local style with timber and stone detailing that nods to traditional Bhutanese design without imitating a monastery or dzong. Junior suites face the river directly, with the mountains rising on the far bank. It is a compact, low-rise property. Deluxe rooms carry the same architectural language in smaller form, furnished plainly with carved wood pieces and local textiles. A spa operates on-site, along with several restaurants and a bar, so guests need not leave the grounds for a full day's meals. Outdoor activities draw on the setting directly: archery, Bhutan's national sport, is offered on the property, alongside walks along the riverbank and tea served under a willow tree. You can hear the river from most rooms, its volume shifting with the season. Conference rooms and event space are also available, used for meetings and cultural gatherings alike. The resort's position gives it an odd double role: a base for exploring Thimphu on one side, and a quiet stretch of river frontage on the other, with high-altitude hikes in the surrounding hills for those who want to walk further out.
