The Chateau Spa & Wellness Resort

Turrets and pale stone walls give The Chateau its shape, a design borrowed from an 18th-century castle in Alsace and set down instead on Berjaya Hills, above rainforest canopy in Pahang. The effect is deliberate: leaded windows, a glasshouse, chandeliers in the dining room, all sitting against tropical greenery rather than a European valley. It is a strange, considered pairing, and it works. The resort holds 172 rooms and suites, from a 25 m² Deluxe Room to a 295 m² Hillside Villa with three bedrooms and its own kitchenette. Several rooms look onto hills, rainforest canopy or the golf course; the Jacuzzi Suite adds a private outdoor tub on its own terrace. Meals run across six venues, from all-day dining at La Vie to Indian cuisine at L'asiette and a cigar lounge for something after dinner. The spa anchors the wellness side of the name, alongside a pool looking out over the grounds. Outside, Berjaya Hills adds an 18-hole golf course, a rose garden, horse trails, a Japanese garden and an adventure park with a long zip line and a canopy bridge. You can hear the rainforest from most rooms after dark. Kuala Lumpur is roughly 45 minutes by road, close enough for a day trip, far enough to feel like elsewhere.
