The Connaught is a five-star hotel of boutique scale on Carlos Place, in the part of Mayfair the hotel calls Mayfair Village, within the Mount Street neighbourhood. It suits guests who want to be in the middle of the district without feeling it press in on them.
The room ladder is long, which helps when you are matching a client to a budget and a temperament. It runs from the Superior Queen Single Room through Superior, Contemporary and Deluxe King Rooms, a Contemporary Studio and a Deluxe Junior Suite, then on to the named suites: Carlos, Grosvenor, Connaught, Sutherland, Adams, Library, Terrace, Eagle's Lodge, Prince's Lodge, The Mews and The Apartment. Guy Oliver designed The Terrace Suite, Sutherland Suite, Connaught Suite and The Eagle's Lodge; Michael Blair did The Library Suite and The Mews; David Collins Studio did The Apartment. The Terrace Suite carries the largest terrace in Mayfair, per the hotel, landscaped by Tom Stuart-Smith. The Apartment covers 285 sq m across two bedrooms, with two balconies over Carlos Place. The Mews is a three-level townhouse in Adams Row with its own street entrance, useful for guests who value privacy. Rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi, a minibar and a built-in dressing table, and some bathrooms are marble with a television in the bath.
Hélène Darroze at The Connaught holds three Michelin stars. The Connaught Grill sits at the end of a rosewood-clad corridor, and The Connaught Bar is where mixologists come for both new drinks and old favourites.
The Aman Spa lies deep inside the building and has a black granite swimming pool with ionised water. There is also The Connaught Shop, and the hotel hosts private events, from white weddings to black-tie galas. Staff speak English.
