The Elandra Resort Mission Beach
South Mission Beach sits midway between Cairns and Townsville, and The Elandra Resort holds a clifftop position above the Coral Sea there. The outlook takes in Dunk, Bedarra and Hinchinbrook Islands, with the Great Barrier Reef visible further out on the horizon. Rainforest runs down to the shoreline behind the property, and cassowaries and wallabies move through it at dawn and dusk.

The resort has 20 rooms, split between Gardenview rooms set back among the trees and Oceanview rooms facing the water. Rooms 16 and older only. Each has a balcony, ceiling fan and pod espresso machine, and an à la carte breakfast is included for two guests each morning.

The restaurant sits on the pool deck, open to the sea and the outer islands, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily to guests and outside visitors alike. A cocktail bar runs alongside it. Beyond the grounds, the Kennedy Walking Track threads four kilometres of beach and rainforest to Kennedy Bay, passing the 1848 landing site of explorer Edmund Kennedy. Dive operators run day trips to the outer reef from Clump Point Jetty, and boats can be hired locally to reach Dunk and Bedarra. On site, there is a tennis court and a pool. Check-in runs from 3pm.
