The Gordon Highlanders Museum

The Gordon Highlanders Museum in Aberdeen is a stirring tribute to a regiment with more than two centuries of storied service. Housed in the former home and studio of Sir George Reid, it traces the Gordon Highlanders’ journey from their origins in 1794 through colonial wars, both World Wars and their 1994 amalgamation. Highlights include 11 original Victoria Crosses, a full-size replica First World War trench, a majestic armoury of weapons, and regimental silver in the officers’ mess. The tranquil memorial gardens add a deeply emotional note. Lively guided tours, immersive displays and rich personal stories bring this “Finest Regiment in the World” vividly to life.
