The Precious Guest House
Arrival at The Precious means climbing a hill south of Amman until the Dead Sea opens out below, flat and pale under the haze. The guest house sits above the shoreline, facing west, with the water and the hills beyond it visible from the terrace. It is a small property, built around four suites rather than corridors of rooms, each one looking out over the same view of sea and scrubland. A pool runs along the terrace, edged in stone, with loungers set for the slow half of the day. Below it, a garden drops in terraces toward the slope, planted for shade rather than show. It is a quiet spot. Dinner is served by the pool when the evening cools, using produce sourced locally rather than flown in. Guests can hear very little beyond birdsong and wind off the valley. The location works as a base for the wider region: Amman lies about 45 minutes north, the airport around 30 minutes away, and the Dead Sea's mineral shoreline is a short drive down the hill, with Ma'in's hot springs and the desert country toward Wadi Rum further afield. The Precious also hosts weddings and small gatherings on the terrace, timed to the sunset over the water. Check-in and event bookings run through direct arrangement with the house.
