The Savoy Jersey

Set behind a Victorian façade on Rouge Bouillon, The Savoy Jersey trades on details that outlast trends: high ceilings in the suites, private balconies, a lounge warmed by an open fire. The house dates to 1840; it became a hotel in 1968 and has been run by the Lora family since 1993. Fifty-five rooms are split across house rooms, suites, and family rooms, the latter pairing a double with an adjoining twin for groups. Balcony Suites take the tall-ceiling format further, each with its own private balcony. The Jacuzzi Suite adds a bath built for lingering. Downstairs, Roberto's Restaurant serves modern European food with a seasonal, local slant, and on Friday nights turns into a jazz bar with a gin list said to be the largest in the Channel Islands. Afternoon tea runs on a sunlit deck from midday to three, Monday to Saturday. Guests can walk to St Helier's town centre and its beaches in about ten minutes, and to the Jersey Museum and Liberation Square in a similar stretch. A gym with LifeFitness kit and free weights operates year-round; an outdoor pool and courtyard open seasonally, April to October. It is a compact stay, built more on rhythm than square footage.
