The Terrace Boutique Hotel

The Telegraph Hotel is a former central post office on Shota Rustaveli Avenue, at Republic Square in Tbilisi. Its concrete frame dates from the Soviet era, kept largely as built and reworked inside by the design studio Neri & Hu, who set walnut panelling, fluted glass and brass against the original structure, along with a green drawn from old switchboard lamps. It is a brutalist shell with a softer hand inside. The hotel holds 239 rooms and suites across nine categories, from a 30 m² classic room to the 260 m² Telegraph Presidential Suite, which has two bedrooms, a 338 m² terrace and its own hot tub. Club-level rooms come with lounge access, a dedicated concierge and full breakfast, and most rooms look either onto Rustaveli Avenue or into the hotel's inner courtyard. Eight restaurants and bars operate across the building, including an Italian dining room, a steakhouse with open-flame grilling, a Thai kitchen, and Tatuza, a jazz club named for the Georgian musician Tatuza Kurashvili. The Rolling Stone Rooftop Bar sits above it all, looking over Republic Square. Narikala Fortress and the sulphur baths of Abanotubani are both within a mile and a half on foot. Check-in is straightforward; Rustaveli Avenue runs right outside the door.
