Three Rivers Camp – Where Wilderness Meets Elegance

Three Rivers Camp is a seasonal, owner-run property in the Kafunta Safaris portfolio, offering a refined and immersive bush experience in the heart of South Luangwa.

Located at the confluence of the Luangwa, Luzangazi, and Kapamba Rivers, the camp sits in a remote and wildlife-rich area, about two hours south of Kafunta River Lodge and just 7 km upriver from Island Bush Camp. The surrounding landscape of open plains, oxbow lagoons, and riverine forest attracts a remarkable diversity of game—from large elephant and buffalo herds to giraffes, antelope, wild dogs, and more.

Together with Island Bush Camp, Three Rivers Camp offers a truly exclusive safari, far from crowds and close to nature. The camp features five spacious, stylish safari tents, each with an indoor sleeping area and a private raised sleep-out platform, allowing adventurous guests to spend a night under the stars in comfort and safety.

Activities include both walking safaris and game drives, with expertly guided explorations of the surrounding wilderness. Guests can also walk between Three Rivers and Island Bush Camp as part of a multi-day itinerary. For the most rewarding experience and optimal game viewing, we recommend combining a stay at Three Rivers Camp with Kafunta River Lodge.

Three Rivers Camp is an owner-run camp part of the Kafunta Safaris' portfolio.

It is located at the confluence of the Luangwa, Luzangazi and Kapamba Rivers, in South Luangwa. It is about a two-hour drive south of Kafunta River Lodge and about seven kilometres upriver from Island Bush Camp. The area around camp features open oxbow lagoons and is teeming with wildlife, including big herds of elephants and buffalo, giraffes, antelopes, wild dogs and much more.

Three Rivers and Island Bush Camps are very remote so you can be assured of a real private safari in a pristine area of the Luangwa Valley. The camp includes five sophisticated tents, each with its own raised sleeping platform, with the option of a night under the African sky.

This seasonal camp offers game drives and bush walks. It is also possible to walk from Three Rivers to the Island or vice versa. However, to maximise game viewing, a combination with Kafunta River Lodge is always recommended.
