Ocean Safaris, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling

A day trip up the coast to Tofo, where local operators run Ocean Safaris out onto the reefs of Inhambane, a stretch of water known for whale sharks and manta rays. Boats head out early, after a scenic drive from the lodge, for the chance to swim alongside these animals in open water. Sightings are best between July and December. Snorkelling and scuba diving cover the same reef system at a slower pace, for those who would rather look than chase. Back at the lodge, humpback whales sometimes pass within 800 metres of the beach, visible from the pool lounge.
