Treasure Island Eco Resort Tonga

Set on its own 48-acre island in the Vava'u group, Treasure Island Resort has no neighbours; the eight thatched fales here are the only building on Eueiki. Each fale runs on solar power, with rainwater collected and filtered on site and an ensuite shower fed by the same supply. Beds are king-size but split into twins on request, and every fale opens onto a covered porch facing the lagoon. The water sits turquoise and shallow at the doorstep, with a coral garden close enough to reach on foot at low tide, when guests can walk the island's shoreline past small cliffs and caves cut by the tide over time. Two hiking trails climb to a plateau with views across the wider Vava'u group, and a boat trip to neighbouring Euakafa Island leads to the tomb of a Samoan princess. From July to October, humpback whales calve in the channels around the island, and the resort runs its own licensed whale-swim tours using two boats built by its owner. Outside that season, kayaking, snorkelling, and hiking are included, with island-hopping and fishing arranged at extra cost. Meals follow a table d'hôte format with organic, locally grown produce, served as full or half board. It is a small island. Getting to know all of it does not take long.
