Tudor Farmhouse Hotel

Set on High Street in the village of Clearwell, where the Forest of Dean meets the Wye Valley, Tudor Farmhouse occupies a working farm building that dates to the 13th century. Old stonework and exposed beams remain in place, worked in around 20 bedrooms and suites split across Suites, Cockerel, Hen and Hatchling categories. Most rooms carry a roll-top bath and a monsoon shower; the five suites add a lounge area, and two take a sofa bed for a family of four. The Bantam suite lights from velux windows alone. Downstairs, the restaurant runs on ingredients grown in the kitchen garden or sourced within 20 miles, serving breakfast through to dinner. It is a compact stay, but a well-placed one. Clearwell sits close to Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves and the Wye Valley's limestone gorges, and the hotel arranges foraging trips, wildlife safaris and e-bike hire directly. You can hear little beyond birdsong and the odd cyclist on the lane outside. Lydney station is five miles off, with direct trains from Gloucester and Cardiff; the hotel itself sits 12 miles from Chepstow and seven from Monmouth. Two 7kW EV chargers stand in the car park, and three ground-floor rooms take dogs. Check-in runs from 3pm, check-out by 11am.
